Laboratory Safety

Laboratory safety is of vital importance. Safety rules will be followed at all times. A student’s failure to follow safety guidelines will result in his/her dismissal from the laboratory for the remainder of the experiment. A student’s gross negligence of laboratory safety will result in the student receiving an office referral.

Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for students to benefit from Earth Science course. Students are expected to arrive to class on time. Please see consult your student handbook for expectations.

Code of Student Conduct


  • Expectations: Students are expected to respect the personal, psychological, and physical safety of all members of the school community. Students are expected to treat all members of the school community with respect. Students are expected to act in a manner that supports learning in a safe environment. Students are expected to refrain from any behavior that may potentially cause disruption or distraction.
  • Electronic Devices: As defined by the Electronic Device policy, students are expected to refrain from use or access of electronic devices while in the instructional setting or classroom, unless instructed by the instructor.


Absence, Make up and late work


  • It is the student’s responsibility to meet with the teacher to schedule make-up work on the day she/he returns to school from an absence.
  •  Students with unexcused absence when work is assigned or collected forfeit the opportunity to receive credit for those assignments. Unexcused absences are handled with the Grade Coordinator.
  • Assignments will be given a due date when they are assigned and are generally due at the next class meeting.
  •  Late work: Work is due when it is due. Long-term late work will be devalued by 5% percent for each school day it is late. Homework not turned in on the due date will receive a “zero”. Extensions may be granted and special circumstances can be considered.
  •  Tests and quizzes must be completed on the date and within the class they are given. Extensions may be granted and special circumstances can be considered.
